Dr Simon Jensen will address the issue of whether autogenous bone is the gold standard for augmentation procedures. He will provide an overview of the different intraoral donor sites available focusing on surgical techniques, advantages, drawbacks and risks involved. The characteristics of the ideal bone subsitute material and of the different classes of bone substitutes available on the market today will be presented. Advantages and disadvantages of bone grafts versus bone substitutes will be outlined.
