3M Littmann Stethoscopes - 3M Littmann Electronic Stethoscopes both amplify sound and reduce ambient noise.INTRODUCING THE 3M LITTMANN ELECTRONIC STETHOSCOPE RANGE Until now, the advantages of amplification in an electronic stethoscope have been negated by the sensitivity of electronic stethoscope to distracting sounds from ambient room noise and friction on the surface of the patients body. But thanks to a proprietary technological advancement known as Ambient Noise Reduction (ANR), the 3M Littmann Electronic Stethoscope Model 3000 and 4100WS allows you to reduce distracting room noise by an average of 75% without eliminating critical body sounds. combine that with amplification up to 18 times greater than the best acoustic (non-electronic) stethoscope and you have an instrument that is uniquely equipped to help y ou pick up difficult to hear heart, lung and other body sounds. Even when the world around you is filled with distracting noise. 3M Littmann Electronic Stethoscope 4100WS has the added feature of recording and 3M Sound Analysis Software. What Clinicians have said: 82% of cardiologists indicated it was easier to detect/hear an aortic regurgitation murmur (Grade 1 or 2) with the 3M Littmann Electronic Stethoscope than with an acoustic (non-electronic) cardiology type stethoscope. (sample 100 Cardiologists) 90% of critical care nurses indicated it was easier to detect/hear abnormal lung sounds with the 3M Littmann Electronic Stethoscope than with an acoustic (non-electronic) cardiology-type stethoscope. (sample 136 nurses) 3M Littmann Electronic Stethoscopes Features include:
4100WS specific features:
WHAT IS AMBIENT NOISE and HOW IS IT REDUCED? Sources of ambient noise:
Other environmental sounds Ambient noise isn't just in the air; it also travels through the patient's body. The key to reducing ambient noise is to address both pathways. Ambient Noise Reduction (ANR) does just that without filtering away important sounds. Noise from the room enters the stethoscope through a thin gap in the chestpiece and , once inside, meets noise that enters throug the body. The two cancel each other out, leaving the heart, lung and other body sounds you want to hear. Acoustic cancelling effect is different than electronic filtering, which may also filter out some portions of body sounds.
