Don't believe everything you hear about hearing.

Around 3.5 million Australians are currently affected by hearing loss. However the many myths and misconceptions that exist may discourage some people from seeking help to improve their lives through better hearing.

The following list may help separate the fact from the fiction!

MYTH: Hearing aids just make everything louder.

FACT: Today's hearing solutions are designed to suit each individual's type and degree of hearing loss and their lifestyle. Every hearing aid prescribed at AudioClinic is recommended by qualified Hearing Care Clinicians.

MYTH: It's expensive to get your hearing checked.

FACT: AudioClinic's hearing check ups are discreet, simple and FREE. All hearing checks are obligation free.

MYTH: Hearing aids are uncomfortable.

FACT: A properly fitted hearing device should not cause you any discomfort. If your hearing aid feels uncomfortable, please contact your nearest AudioClinic to make an appointment for an adjustment.

MYTH: Digital hearing aids are not available for pensioners.

FACT: Free digital hearing aids are available now to eligible pensioners through the Government Scheme.* You may also be eligible for tax assistance and health insurance rebates.

MYTH: Wearing hearing aids can make your hearing worse.

FACT: Hearing aids do not increase the rate of hearing decline due to dependency. Your brain needs regular auditory stimulation to continue to remember sounds, which in turn allows you to communicate effectively. The earlier you address your hearing concern, the better.

*AudioClinic is accredited by the Federal Government to provide FREE hearing aids and services to eligible pensioners and veterans. Conditions apply under the Commonwealth Hearing Services Voucher System.
