Smith & Nephew - Hydrogel
Modern research in the area of wound care has shown that moist environments result in faster healing. While wounds of low, medium or high levels of exudate can be treated using suitably absorbent dressings, dry wounds require the addition of moisture to give fluid back to the wound and stimulate healing.
Signet’s new Healthcare range includes wound care products to manage all exudate levels from highly absorbent foam dressings, to hydrogels designed to debride and deslough wounds while maintaining an optimal moist wound environment.
Signet stocks two types of hydrogels as part of their Chronic & Acute Wound Care category. These products are Smith & Nephew’s Intrasite and Solosite gels.
Intrasite is a clinically proven hydrogel for use on pressure ulcers, leg ulcers and amputations, among other wounds. It works to debride necrotic wounds, rehydrate and absorb slough, and in doing so cleans the wound which allows healing to progress.
The gel contains propylene glycol which offers bacteriostatic properties and helps to prevent the product from drying out. A new easy to use applipak also means the full amount of gel is dispensed to each wound site. This application ensures cost effective care and minimises cross contamination of product.
The second Smith & Nephew hydrogel to be added to Signet’s Healthcare range is Solosite. While similar to Intrasite, the addition of preservatives means Solosite is a product that is suitable for multiple reuses without fear of increasing the risk of wound infection. This multi dose presentation offers significant cost benefits and the ‘no-touch’ push button spray applicator ensures the product is dispensed safely.
Solosite gel provides a moist environment at the wound surface and has been proven to be non-cytotoxic, non-irritating and non-sensitising. The product remains gel-like until saturated, meaning it stays in the wound longer and the once-a-day regime results in a wound that is largely undisturbed to promote rapid healing.
Signet is an Australian owned company which has been operating for over 40 years. The company supplies a comprehensive range of packaging, health, safety and cleaning supplies, along with a large selection of warehouse and office consumables and equipment.
Being driven by its desire to exceed customer's expectations, Signet offers free express delivery to metro customers residing in Brisbane, Townsville, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide for orders over $100 before tax.
At Signet, products are always in stock, always at the lowest prices and always delivered on time. For all Chronic & Acute Wound Care needs, buyers should consider Signet as their first choice.
