As digital convergence becomes commonplace, traditional nurse call design has become less efficient in the control of communications and interfacing to care management software systems.
Micall Systems brief by Anglicare IT Manager, Mr Vince Dove, was to provide a solution that was flexible, reliable, simple to maintain and built utilising 'off the shel' non-propriety key hardware components.
"The beauty of the merlon IP7000 design is in it’s simplicity, a minimalist approach to infrastructure and use of moving parts, it is inherently reliable, The system runs a self diagnostics program, and combined with our nationwide 24 / 365 telephone support, on-site personnel can provide maintenance …. anywhere at anytime," Everington says.
merlon IP7000 has no central PC/Server or ward /room controllers to fail, once set up, it operates on a stand-alone basis. A PC is only used to log calls, cycle system diagnostics and handle off-site telephone communications.
"The benefits of using call points with 'embedded intelligence' provide the ultimate in flexibility. Any call point or number of call points can be user-programmed at any time to appear on any display anywhere across the entire network. Or linked networks,"he says.
According to Everington "Contrary to some very misleading advertising from competitors, merlon is the only true point to point IP based Nurse Call in the Australian market. we have been installing the merlon system for over two years and it is a fully matured design"
Merlon IP7000 fully conforms and in all cases exceeds the requirements of the current AUS 3811 Rev 2 1998 standard, which we consider to be less than adequate for modern facilities.
"True IP is an advanced design, merlon IP7000 provides a way to 'future proof' any facility, ensuring a prolonged system life for all aged care or hospital environments," said Micall's, CEO, Everington.
