Complete Patient Care From Beds to Mattresses

When we talk about patient care, it is easy to focus on the equipment doing the treating. Monitors, pumps, diagnostics and everything else that sits around the patient.

But for many patients, particularly those spending extended periods in hospital, there is one piece of equipment they interact with more than almost anything else.

The bed.

And really, a hospital bed is only as good as the support surface sitting on top of it.

That’s why we provide  the combination of the Medstrom Solo+ and the Wellell Pro-care Auto. Two products designed to solve different problems, but when used together, provide a practical approach to patient positioning, pressure care and day-to-day nursing.

Starting with the Solo+.

Hospital beds have to do quite a lot. They need to provide a comfortable place for the patient, assist with positioning and mobilisation, make transfers easier and, at the same time, provide staff with a practical working platform.

The Solo+ has been designed around exactly that.

Its low-height capability makes it particularly useful for patients where falls are a concern, whilst still allowing the bed to be raised to a practical working height when staff need to provide care. Its ultra-high capability can also be used as a standing aid for those at risk. Alternatively, the Solo’s ultra-low mechanism offers greater access for patient and mitigates risk for potential at risk patients. Its A-Frame design allows greater risk reduction for ligature risks and its electric profiling then allows the patient's position to be adjusted throughout the day without turning every repositioning into a manual exercise.

But the bed itself is only half of the equation.

For patients spending significant periods of time in bed, pressure management becomes increasingly important. That is where the Wellell Pro-care Auto comes in.

Pressure care can quickly become complicated. Different patients require different levels of support, and those requirements can change throughout their stay. The Pro-care Auto has been designed to make that process immensely easier by automatically adjusting the support provided to the patient.

Rather than relying entirely on manual adjustment, the system helps establish an appropriate level of support based on the patient, taking some of the guesswork out of mattress setup.

Its Cell-on-Cell construction provides a supportive base, whilst alternating pressure modes help regularly redistribute pressure across the surface. Micro low-air-loss technology also assists with managing heat and moisture around the patient, with adjustable heel cells providing another level of flexibility in an area particularly susceptible to pressure.

There are also some practical features that matter in day-to-day care. The mattress can be rapidly deflated for CPR within 15 seconds, while the pump operates at a low noise level of 20 dB(A) or less. During a power failure the mattress can remain inflated for up to 8 hours, and in transport mode it can function as a static air mattress for at least 12 hours.

Once you put the two together and you start to see where the combination makes sense.

One helps staff move, position and care for the patient more effectively. The other works away in the background to support pressure redistribution and patient comfort.

Simply, these two products address everyday challenges faced in patient care and work together to provide a more complete solution.

Because sometimes better patient care doesn't come from adding more equipment around the bed.

It starts with the bed itself.
