Pacific Smiles Group (PSG) currently owns and operates 14 dental centres. Most are located in NSW, in an area stretching from the CBD of Sydney to Forster on the mid-north coast.
PSG commenced operations in the Hunter region of NSW in 2003 when a number of larger practices decided to amalgamate as an incorporated entity. The idea was to simply allow dentists o to practice dentistry and find professional managers to administer.
Over the next few years PSG successfully acquired or started centres in the family comprehensive brand and health fund clinics, so they decided to extend the model to business market practices as well.
In late 06 they purchased Greenwood Dental Centre in North Sydney. It was a well-established `top-end' practice offering cosmetic, implant and restorative dentistry in luxurious surroundings. It was ideally presented and positioned for its demographic, aiming mainly at the business market.
John Gibbs, the GM of PSG said "We saw the hard work that had gone into establishing a great centre like Greenwood North Sydney and decided to replicate it in Melbourne. We already had a Victorian practice in the East Gippsland, in Warragal and we decided to grow that presence also via the establishment of the new centre in Melbourne."
"The first hurdle was to find central, accessible and highly visible premises. It took nearly 18 months, but we finally found the ideal site on the corner of Bourke and Elizabeth streets. This is actually the geographic centre of the CBD, opposite the old GPO. The first floor position has windows to both streets and faces the pedestrian mall."
"Our interior designers, Levitch Design Associates (LDA), had investigated and establish the utility of the site and we knew what we wanted. A centre that had the latest equipment, ultra modern design and CBD convenience. We wanted to appeal to the busy executives and staff of the corporate offices who work in the CBD every day"
