Soft Belt Safety Belt or Restraint

Supplier: Pelican Manufacturing

The Pelican Soft Belt is made from soft strong 50 mm wide webbing with a wide padded section to provide a soft area against the patient’s body. The padded section should be placed across the lap.

Price Guide: AUD $57

However, as some patients may rock or lean forward it may be possible to place the padded section across the chest. Do not use across the chest if the patient is liable to slide down the chair. Some patients feel more secure with this wide soft belt instead of a more discrete webbing belt. This belt is not recommended for patients who slide down the chair. For this behaviour we recommend that the Chair Belt for Sliders is also used as well as the Soft Belt.

To Fit: Place the padded section in front of the patient and wrap the webbing around the chair frame on both sides, either at the pelvic position or behind the back of the chair and fasten the buckle behind the chair. As the Soft Belt can be used on large lounge chairs, it may be necessary on narrower chairs, to wrap the surplus webbing a few times around the chair frame to take up the extra webbing.

WARNING - Only use a Safety Belt or Restraint if all other alternatives have been tried. Ensure Restraint Authorisation has been obtained. Restrained patients should be kept under observation, as their behaviour may alter and another restraint may be more appropriate. Restraints are a prescribed item. The wrong restraint or the correct restraint incorrectly fitted can cause injury or death.
