Pelican - Bed Side Helper

The Bed Side Helper is quick to place securely under a mattress, and has two height settings. A Health Care Professional can help determine the most suitable position and height. They may place the Helper near the shoulder, elbow, or leg.

Main Features

• Made from a strong poly-carbonate plastic that is easy to wipe clean
• Can be used on almost any size of bed that has a separate mattress and base section
• Make the bed as normal, leaving the Helper in place, or remove it during the day

Two Cover options:

• Standard Cover  A removable washable foam padded velour cover which has a pocket on the outside for storing small items like a torch, bed remote, mobile phone, TV Controller, etc.
• Thick Padded Cover  This special thick Cover helps protect people who may have an epileptic seizure or have some other uncontrollable forceful movements. It consists of thick convoluted foam with a soft velour outer cover that has a pocket on the outside for storing small items. For safety, the hand slot is covered to prevent a hand or wrist getting caught.

The Bed Side Helper is usually very secure and hard to displace on most beds, but if a Patient is likely to move excessively or bang very hard on the Helper, then a Security Strap and Floor Extension are available to add increased stability.

Optional Alarm Pad

A Bed Side Helper Alarm Pad can be added to the Bed Side Helper to alert the Carer and the Patient that they are leaning against the Helper, or if they knock it in the event of a seizure. Another use is for Patients to tell a Carer that they need assistance, if they are not able to operate a Nurse Call Pager.

Connections:

• Touch Alarm Box, to sound inside the Patient’s room, or a 10 metre Extension Cord can be used so that the Touch Alarm Box can be taken to another room.
• Nurse Call Plug, to sound an alert through a facility’s Nurse Call Paging System.
